Camp Aldrich: Week 3

July 25 to July 29, 2022
Cost: $420 per child, per week; $375 per child, per week for Aldrich Family Members and above
General Registration

Join us for Camp Aldrich, a full-day, week-long arts experience with Museum Educators and practicing artists!

Each week is unique—inspired by the Museum’s exhibition 52 Artists: A Feminist Milestone—and tailored to specific age groups, with in-gallery learning and art-making. Campers will explore the Museum's galleries with teaching artists and educators, create dynamic works of art, move their bodies through mindful activities and games, discover art-making techniques, and build friendships along the way.

New activities will be shared each week for returning campers. Caregivers will receive personalized emails from the Camp Aldrich team sharing what their child learned. The experience will culminate on Friday evenings with a Camper Art Show of their creative projects for family and friends.

DAILY SCHEDULE

Drop Off | 9 to 9:30 am

Campers have the option to draw, read, play, or participate in group activities.

Mindfulness and Movement | 9:30 to 10 am

Campers are guided through light stretching, yoga, and breath-work outdoors (weather permitting).

Gallery Looking and Learning | 10 to 11:30 am

Teaching artists lead the campers through the galleries to explore the art on view, participate in close-looking exercises, and engage in a group activity.

Lunch and Outdoor Play | 11:30 am to 12:30 pm

Time to eat outside (weather permitting) and then enjoy games and recreational activities in the Museum's Sculpture Garden or Studio.

Reflective Journaling | 12:30 to 1 pm

Campers journal about the morning activities through guided prompts with the teaching artists, in preparation for an afternoon of art-making.

Art-Making Session | 1 to 3:30 pm

Campers work on a personal, exhibition-inspired art project, guided by the teaching artists.

Snack | 3:30 to 4 pm

Campers enjoy a snack outside (weather permitting), then have the option to continue working on their art projects and/or take part in games and activities.

Pick Up | 4 to 4:30 pm

Campers are welcome to draw, read, or play while caregivers arrive to pick up their children.

*KINDLY NOTE: We are developing Camp Aldrich as a full day, in-person program to be held both indoors and outdoors, weather-permitting. As such, we will be closely monitoring best practices from state governance to implement for the safety of all campers, visitors, and staff. Moreover, we will be requiring all staff, visitors, and campers over the age of two to wear face masks, socially distance, and wash their hands routinely. Increased vigilance will be given to our cleaning and disinfecting procedures of shared indoor spaces such as The Studio. Campers will be screened upon arrival each day for any observable illness and confirmed with a temperature below 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit. If a camper expresses they are not feeling well or develops symptoms of a cough, cold, or fever during the day, they will be moved to a designated area with a chaperone to await pick-up. In the case that we will not be able to continue to offer Camp for any reason, full refunds will be offered.
