Hear from Members Caitlin Mulkeen and Delphine James about why membership to The Aldrich matters to them.

Q: Thinking back on your visits, was there a work of art at The Aldrich that truly surprised you or shifted how you think about art?

A: One of the first exhibits that we saw at The Aldrich was Rudy Shepherd: Somebody’s Child which included twenty five watercolors depicting victims of police violence. The humanity of each victim was so vividly represented in each portrait. It was a powerful introduction to The Aldrich’s commitment to showcasing art that not only moves us aesthetically but also provides space to reflect more deeply about our challenging world.

Q: What is your favorite memory of The Aldrich?

A: We have many wonderful memories of attending openings, exhibit tours, and talks at The Aldrich. The opening of the beautiful new Sculpture Garden last year was especially exciting for us — it has become one of our favorite places to walk our dog and enjoy art in the open air.

Q: What inspires you to continue supporting The Aldrich?

A: Having moved to Ridgefield from Manhattan in the summer of 2020, our first priority in finding a new home was accessibility to arts and culture. We’re committed to doing our part to uphold these values in our town, and The Aldrich has become an essential part of that. We haven’t missed a single exhibit since moving here! We’re inspired and proud to support The Aldrich and help nurture creativity and dialogue in our community.

Q: From your perspective, how does The Aldrich make a difference in Ridgefield and the surrounding community?

A: The Aldrich is a vibrant cultural anchor in Ridgefield that brings world-class creativity to our own backyard. Each new exhibition brings a mix of art that challenges our expectations and open windows into different perspectives. There’s a genuine sense of diversity here, not just in the artists themselves but in the ideas their work explores. The Aldrich is a gem!
