Patrons-Only Tours of The Josef & Anni Albers Foundation and NXTHVN

Thursday, May 9 | 10:30 am to 4 pm
Free for $1000+ members

Step into the world of pioneering 20th-century artists Josef and Anni Albers at The Josef & Anni Albers Foundation, nestled in the serene landscape of Bethany, CT. The Albers' work, writing, and teaching demonstrably transformed the way that people see color and the processes of making art. The Aldrich has had a long relationship with the artists and the Foundation beginning with Josef’s many exhibitions at the Museum in the 1960s and 1970s. More recently, artist Zoë Sheehan Saldaña wove work for her 2020 exhibition There Must Be Some Way Out of Here on Anni Albers' loom at the Foundation, and Tim Prentice, whose exhibition After the Mobile was presented at The Aldrich in 2021, was a student of Albers at Yale and designed several buildings on the Foundation's campus.

Afterwards we will head to nearby New Haven for lunch and a visit to NXTHVN. Founded by artist Titus Kaphar and businessman Jason Price in 2018, NXTHVN accelerates the careers of the next generation of artists and curators while helping to turn New Haven into a world-class and sustainable arts community. Current exhibiting artist Layo Bright was a resident artist at NXTHVN in 2021 and Prima Materia artist Jeffrey Meris was a resident in 2020.

RSVP to Holly Hart, Head of Membership and Events, at events@thealdrich.org by Friday, May 3.
