Join us for a special evening featuring a talk led by Kristen Cusato, Director of Communications and Research Champion from the Alzheimer's Association. Kristen will highlight the role that art and music play for those with dementia and their care partners. The talk will be accompanied by an exhibition tour led by Holly Lapine, Access and Education Specialist at The Aldrich. The evening will include light refreshments.
This program is presented by The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum and The Connecticut Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
Kristen Cusato spent more than twenty years as a television journalist, in New York, Texas, Connecticut, and California. Her mother’s diagnosis of Lewy Body Dementia in 2009 changed everything. Kristen moved from San Diego to New York to help her best friend – her Mom – on this difficult journey. Kristen worked for the Connecticut chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association while her Mom was ill, sharing what she was learning as a caregiver, and teaching people about this disease. Her Mom passed away at the age of 65. Now Kristen is Director of Communications for the Connecticut Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, a Research Champion for the New England Region, and host of the new podcast “Speaking of Alzheimer’s.” Her goal is to spread awareness of the disease, share the services the chapter offers those with the disease and caregivers and educate about research towards new treatments and a cure.
