The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum

Stylistic independence, which is certainly one of the hallmarks of American art of the past fifty years, seems to be a critical factor in the decision to show these three artists together as a group for the first time. Although each of the three makes work which might be categorized as typically Californian in the sense of expressing an exaggeratedly individualistic sensibility, seen together their art conveys a witty, even whimsical, relationship to the mythological structure of popular culture in America.
