Contemporary Reflections 1977-78

The Seventh Annual Contemporary Reflections Exhibition continues the Aldrich Museum policy for presenting newly emerging artists. The exhibition is formed of artists not yet represented in a major metropolitan gallery. Its purpose in selection is to reflect upon current studio activity within the region of New York and the north-eastern states.

The aim of this survey is to show artists seriously intent upon their statements and development. Selection is finally made by curatorial choice of the Museum Director based on evidence of viewing a slide presentation of the artist’s most recent work. The eventual choice of the work exhibited results from a studio visit to see the original works and to observe the working background of the artists first-hand. Each artist is represented by a single work in the exhibition, selected as a major example of the artist’s present concerns.
