Lowell Nesbitt

In according Lowell Nesbitt a solo exhibition, the Aldrich Museum for the first time in its sixteen year existence has turned over the entire museum to the works of a single artist. One reason for this choice is the originality of Nesbitt’s work and also the wide range of images that he has chose to paint. He is best known for his flower paintings but there are examples here of his various series of paintings in which he has delt with x-rays, architectural facades and interiors, an autobiographical series in which he has painted his clothes, shoes, dogs, and studio, landscapes, and fruit, vegetable, and object still lifes. Nor does this exhibition exhaust the full range of thematic material which he has treated.
