The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum

Orly Gener’s Mr. Softy is an outdoor specific installation conceived especially for The Aldrich Museum. Although she did a great deal of work in her studio, it was not until she arrived at the Museum that the artist made final decisions on how the work would be installed. Genger redefines space with her monumental and intricately-crocheted sculptures, while simultaneously recording her own movement through time. In her performances, her woven work becomes a landscape through which she moves. In some respects, the work becomes an extension of her body.
